On October 24, 2020, Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada Andriy Shevchenko and Consul General of Ukraine in Edmonton Oleksandr Danyleiko took part in the annual awards ceremony for the most active members of the Ukrainian community in the province of Alberta Hetman Awards 2020.

This year, following the restrictions imposed by the Provincial Government due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event took place in the premises of the House of Ukrainian Youth with a limited number of guests, in compliance with social distancing and other anti-epidemic requirements. The winners of this year’s awards were nine representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora of the province, who made significant contributions to the activities of provincial organizations of the Ukrainian diaspora, implemented and developed various projects to promote Ukrainian culture in Canada, support and meet the needs of the Ukrainian diaspora.

Also the Ambassador A. Shevchenko presented the State Award of Ukraine - the Cross of Ivan Mazepa, to the editor of the publication "New Path, Ukrainian News" ("New pathway, Ukrainian news") Mark Levitsky for his contribution to strengthening Ukraine's international prestige, development of interstate cooperation and active public activity.
